Hansa Cequity has a deep focus on Social, Mobile, Analytics & Cloud (SMAC). The size of the overall SMAC industry globally will be close to $1 trillion by 2020. Hansa Cequity has been rapidly expanding its presence in the Indian market. With the increase in big data & social – the need for real-time, on-demand analytics and marketing automation is increasingly getting attention in company boardrooms. Cequity is expected to invest significantly in this area and its proprietary products & platform solutions are expected to trigger their growth. Cequity has expertise in BFSI, Retail, Auto, DTH verticals and continue to expand it service offerings across various industry verticals.

Cequity is also a leading provider of advanced Analytics for Banks, Retailers, Telecom & FMCG companies. Led the Marketing function for HDFC bank.Created Analytical capacity for the bank from scratch, in the days before Analytics became so sexy. Completely re wired the Marketing team from being specialists in communication to becoming Analytical marketing partners for the Assets, Liabilities & Credit card teams. Ajay was the Chief Marketing Officer at HDFC Bank, where he led the bank's marketing team on the pioneering path of data-led marketing analytics. The bank executed a unique data based strategy based on automating the bank’s marketing environment and this led to huge improvements & ROI in cross sell and up sell rates. HDFC Bank was in fact the first bank in India to automate its entire Marketing processes for Cross sell by bringing in, the Gartner top quadrant solution Unica, and successfully increasing the products held per customer by a substantial number. 

Created a different genetic type for the Marketing function. Moved it from "pure communications" to a CRM enabler with analytics at its core! Created a Customer Intelligence unit & a Campaign factory which have been institutionalized in the bank.

Head Marketing ,
Shoppers Stop
10/1999 - 06/2003

As Head of marketing, the Role involved creating and managing Customer experience management programs to drive both new customer acquisition and increasing value from existing customers.Relaunched a powerful Loyalty program based on Analytical insights from shopping behaviour.

In his stint as Head of Marketing for Shoppers’ Stop (one of India’s leading Department store retail chains), Ajay was responsible for creating a unique & vibrant loyalty program called First Citizen which is a unique Indian case study on loyalty marketing. Ajay was also responsible for creating a hugely successful Customer Experience strategy for Shoppers’ Stop which culminated in a unique 3 month festival called 7 Wonders of the world which delivered large increases in footfall & ticket size. Ajay was an active member of the Intercontinental group of department stores(IGDS) and was invited by IGDS to share his experience for a variety of Retail conferences.

Fascinating experience. Shoppers Stop was a smaller sized retailer then. Establishing a winning loyalty program called "First Citizen" was a key highlight. Also creating a very unique initiative called the "Seven wonders of the world" allowed me to experience "Customer experience management" before the term was coined!

Responsible for the launch of Britania's dairy product business.Led a cross-functional team responsible for product development resulting in the successful launch of ‘Britannia Cheese’ and Flavoured milk in 1997; launch exceeded all the target objectives and Britannia Cheese was a Rs.25 crore franchise with a 35% share of market volume within a year of the launch. Strong brand management skills developed during this stint.
